Syria
Why Syria Matters to Us
by
Deborah J. Thompson
Syria has been in the news almost daily for the past 17 months. But how many of us really understand what is happening there and how it matters to us? Father Nadim Nassar is the first and only Episcopal Priest of Syrian descent in the Church of England and recently granted me an interview. This fascinating and information exchange hopefully allowed me to strike the right balance between information, relevance to the readers, and historical context. I hope it helps those of us who aren't well-versed in Middle Eastern politics, to better understand the situation in Syria and how it affects us all.

Ancient Greater Syria History
by
Jeremiah Say
At one time in history, Syria (also known as Greater Syria) covered a much larger area geographically than it does today. In ancient times, Greater Syria encompassed the modern day country, as well as Israel, parts of Jordan, Kurdistan, Israel, and Palestinian territories. It connected three continents as a crossroads of the Caspian Sea, the Indian Ocean, the Black Sea, and the Nile River.

Is the Iran-Syria War Pact Still Intact?
by
Lance Winslow
Several years ago, the Iranian and Syrian Leadership entered a very verbal and highly publicized war-pact, most likely due to the Iran's worry that it might someday in the future find itself in a war with Israel or the United States. Adding Syria's military might to Iran's could insure that an attack on either would be met with a much larger and stronger force than either one might muster by themselves.

The Silent War Between Israel And Syria
by
James W Smith
So what happened on the morning of September 6, 2007? Israel has instituted a news blackout beyond saying that Israeli soldiers demonstrated unusual courage in acting against Syria. Syria indicates that Israel violated its airspace and fired missals on ground targets. Iran has been absolutely quiet, very unusual for them. There has been no comment across the Middle East. Europe is quiet on the issue.

Understanding 'Dollar - Rupee Relation' Amidst Current Financial Crises
by
Anand Wadadekar
About 'Exchange Rate' of a currency: The exchange rate of the currency of a country in relation to the currency of another country depends on the comparative trade advantages and economic strengths of the countries. If one US dollar is equal to 45 rupees, it simply means that in the US, if a dollar fetches 45 oranges while in India, a rupee would fetch only one orange of equivalent size and quality. Just like any other commodity, the currency of any economy is based on dynamics of supply and demand, and ...

There probably haven't been any more catalysts surrounding gold prices than we've had over the last decade, as it has almost become a perfect storm for gold prices going up, even though when adjusted, aren't valued at the record high attained in the past. Gold has always been regarded as an asset that will not lose its value. There might be great fluctuations in the stock market investments and there might always is a fear of loss.

Predictions of Gold Price Trend in 2011
by
Jon Safer
There are no sources from which we can predict what the gold price trend 2011 will be. By looking at the historical data an investor can get an idea regarding the price. To know the price estimate of gold in 2011, an investor has to look for the highest gold rate that was recorded in the past.

How Silver Affects Gold, and Vice Versa
by
Rachel F Paiste
Gold has been trending up all year, well past the numbers expected by market analysts. And while some are now speculating that gold's run is coming to an end, others believe that there may be more space to grow for the red-hot commodity. Silver is also on the up and up, and, believe it or not, the two are interconnected in a massive metal web, with one profoundly affecting the others place in the market.

Why Gold Prices Will Continue to Go Higher
by
Taylor Raimee
There probably haven't been any more catalysts surrounding gold prices than we've had over the last decade, as it has almost become a perfect storm for gold prices going up, even though when adjusted, aren't valued at the record high attained in the past. Even so, the underlying fundamentals remain the same, and support for gold prices rising will remain in place for some time, although it's debatable an uncertain as to the length of time involved.

Gandhiji and his 78 followers had walked about 241 miles from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi. This was one of the movement, which helped India to get independence.

Readily recognizable to the rest of the world as Indians, the people of the Subcontinent are of many distinguishable groups, both ethnic and religious. Social and cultural divisions as well as the ubiquitous caste system further diversify the population. The well defined boundaries of high mountains and sea have sufficed to enclose a culture which has evolved with little foreign intervention for thousands of years.

Solar Panels Prevent Dust Bowls
by
Nathan Lew
In Los Angeles, California, the city's Department of Water and Power (DWP) is eyeing flat, dusty, arid Owens Lake as the potential site for a future mega-solar farm, but the initiative is focused less on clean, renewable solar energy than on preventing the interminable dust storms generated by the dry lake bed. Owens Lake started to run dry when, in 1913, the city began diverting water from the Owens River. By 1926, the former lake was a shallow hardpan.

Extraterrestrial Angels
by
John Prytz
My philosophy tends to be that behind every mountain of mythology lies a molehill of reality. It's just a matter of trying to figure out what that hidden needle-in-a-haystack reality might be without access to the actual needle. Take the case of angels. I think a better reality would have them as angelic extraterrestrials relative to the mythological 'winged' entities that really aren't represented as such (winged, that is) in the Bible and similar texts.

Death-Kicking the Bucket, Being a Goner, Biting the Dust, Checking Out and Feeling No Pain
by
Dennis Diehl
It's very difficult for humans to say the words "He/she/they died." What a marvelous number of euphemisms for death we have. We pass on, croak, kick the bucket, go home, expire, succumb, leave, meet our maker, go to our reward, get wasted, check out, eternally rest, are a goner, end, bite the dust, get liquidated, terminated and annihilated. We give up the ghost, make the change, transition, get mertilized, go to to the other side, fall asleep, get taken, rubbed and snuffed out. We depart, transcend and buy the farm. We are feeling no pain, lose the race, cash in, cross Jordan and go with the angels. We get done in, translate into glory, return to the dust, wither away, give up, take the long sleep and a dirt bath. It can be curtains, a dropped body, six feet under and out of our misery. We find everlasting peace, new lives the great beyond, ride into the sunset and that's all we wrote. But in plain fact, we are dead.

Onki
Anauj (And The Prison House For Angels)
by
Dennis Siluk Dr.h.c.
(Newly Revised, Edited 5-2010)) One Million BC (4500 BC?) The African sun gently rested over this small village where Onki lived. Outside the house was a cactus garden where lizards-small and large-ran to and fro, as free as the day and night were long. Onki woke up with the bright sunlight shining on his face-through the open window and spacious bedroom: it was warm on his long stretched out nine feet naked body, broad and robust body, and the sun's rays gave light and shape to a rainbow shower far-off in the distance.

Angels Come
by
Christine Larsen
There are many Angels in our lives - if we just quiet ourselves and put aside such things as logic and practicalities - and the trials and tribulations that make up Life itself. It's time to stop and smell the roses - and allow your heart and soul to REALLY listen to the Angels that surround you. Here's a helping hand - if you should be having trouble recognising them.

How to Summon Angels and Spirits
by
Allan Moffatt
In the old days they summoned angels and spirits via the keys of Solomon which were called sigils. You have to know that it is one thing to have a key, and another to find the door, and then another to know how to use it, and also have the wisdom to use it wisely.

Undercover Angels of the Mind - Could You Be One of Them?
by
D. Oraea Varis
There are angels among us. Some stand out in a crowd, some blend in. All of them work as miraculous healers, mostly behind the scenes. We usually do not even notice the quiet yet powerful work they do to transform our existence.

Crystal Angel Figurine
by
Nicole Roberts
Whether you are looking for something to improve your overall home decor or are trying to find a unique gift that has that glamorous and value appeal, a crystal angel figurine could just be what you need. The beauty and charm that oozes from each angel figurine piece and the fact that the number of designs and colors is so broad is probably what has made the piece so popular and in high demand. Collecting angle figurines is a growing hobby nationwide.

Top 10 - Movies of the 80's
by
Nina Pelletier
You remember the eighties right? The time of big hair and legwarmers, when teenage angst was written all over your TV screen. I'm not talking about the classics like "The Princess Bride" and "Dirty Dancing" here, though both of those films deserve their due credit. I'm talking about the movies that shaped a generation, when it was all about the kiss.
