Winnipeg, Manitoba - Prairie Vegetation and Climate
by
Harry Preston
Manitoba's vegetation reflects the general physiographic regions and responds to local influences such as climate, soils, and topography. Cyclists will not see the tundra around the Hudson Bay, although northern cycling routes cross boreal or coniferous forests. Mixed deciduous-coniferous, deciduous forests and aspen parkland (aspen groves mixed with grasslands or fields) in southwestern and central Manitoba, travel past rare remnant tall-grass and mixed-grass prairie among the croplands.

Wheelchair Accessible? Winnipeg's Not Quite There Yet
by
Tanya Comeault
Being a new "Power Wheelchair Operator" (PWO sounds more empowering than the label "disabled") has brought me a tremendous shift towards independence. I am no longer limited in where I go by a proposed destination's distance from the nearest bus stop, nor is my grocery shopping confined to the corner convenience store.

The Kia Optima Hybrid Stands Up to a True North Winter
by
Darren P Somersall
Many people love the idea of a hybrid but are concerned about the hybrid performance in the dead of winter. In order to answer this question I took a Kia Hybrid on an extended 2 day demonstration. Lots of people write about how the Kia Hybrid operates in winter in places like Vancouver, or Chicago, but Winnipeggers will only trust a true Winnipeg test so now we are giving it the true Winnipeg in January test. By the way average Winnipeg temperature in January is between -23 and -13 degrees C.

How To Find A Great Truck Repair Shop
by
Darren Chabluk
Every major city has big trucking companies that need to get their fleet maintenance somewhere. If you call one of these companies and ask them where they get their trucking fleet serviced they will probably tell you. If it's a reputable large company odds are that the shop they use will be good enough for your truck repairs too.
