Pressure Cooker Model - An Explanation For Tsunami, Earth Quakes Etc
by
Kk Subramanian
Water molecules are like mischievous urchins: hyper active, restless and mercurial. They can grow wings and fly like butterflies into the air or metamorphose into earthworms and burrow into the earth, eating up whatever comes in their way. The movement of these molecules may be invisible as in diffusion or osmosis; or gigantic like water falls and the mighty rivers in the continents or still mightier, like the rivers in the ocean called ocean currents.

Earth Quakes And Volcanoes
by
Rose Gul
The fireworks of a volcano and the trembling of the Earth during an earthquake are two of the most dramatic and terrifying happenings on our planet. They are both caused by the slow movement of the plates of the Earth's crust. A volcano is a place where molten rock, called magma, comes to the surface.

Some who read this will remember the start of online gaming, not with World of War Craft, not with Wii, not with Playstation and not with X-Box. They will remember some strange sounding words to today's gamers. Words like Quake, Quake III, possibly UnReal Tournament. What are those?

If Puget Sound is Falling Down - Earthquake Studies
by
Karen S Cole
This scientific article won several awards and was originally written for the UW's Geophysics Department. Students used it as a resource for their graduate theses, and I got to meet the head of the department, William Steele, and his bright, funny and loving son Chris - not to mention other members of the UW's Geophysics Department.

The Day the Earth Wouldn't Stand Still
by
Tim Giardina
I generally try to write only about things that I know, a rather safe approach to article writing. My specialty revolves around lung cancer, cancer treatment and things related to. Many other things in the world fascinate me though and I try to catch hold of and understand some of these thing before they flutter away like a butterfly on a summers day.

Japan Shows Us It Can Happen Here
by
Larry M. Elkin
The probability that a particular reactor core at a U.S. nuclear power plant will be damaged as a result of a blackout ranges from 6.5 in 100,000 to less than one in a million, according to a 2003 analysis by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Compared to many more mundane technologies, such as cars and airplanes, nuclear power facilities are quite safe. For the past half century, we have assumed they are safe enough.
