Pirate Radio
by
Gina Sharpe
Back in the 80s, or the olden days as my youngest likes to say, we would listen to Radio Jackie. We had plenty of options on the dial but that station played a wider variety of music plus the thought of something mildly illicit was definitely attractive. Twenty years before this pirate radio stations started appearing during the rock and roll era. In this movie set in the late 60s, a group of DJs anchor a ship in the North Sea just outside British waters and broadcast the latest and greatest in music.

Movie Review: My Week With Marilyn (2011)
by
Joel Massie
Perhaps one week with Marilyn Monroe just wasn't enough time. Director Simon Curtis' first foray into feature films surrounds itself in brilliant performances and whimsical humor, but even the most emotional and poignant encounters don't offer the lasting impact of an immersive connection. The young man who accompanies Marilyn becomes immediately smitten with the star but has only a few fleeting days for romance.

Movie Review: Thor 3D
by
Stephen Aspeling
Thor is a joke. Who in their right minds would believe that a blonde muscular caped Scandinavian would possess super strength, the power of flight and run amok whenever the sound of battle filled the air with a big old hammer? It's funny to say that he's the odd one out, because the whole lot of underpants and Lycra-clad superpower boys don't fit in...

Thor Film Review
by
S Martin
I'm looking forward to seeing more of Chris Hemsworth, hopefully not in too many Thor movies, as he has the talent to not just be an action hero; and if there is another Thor movie, I'd love for the same cast to come back, with Branagh directing them again. I think maybe I've just been spoiled, but the whole project would just feel different otherwise. This is the best of the Avenger films since the first Iron Man, and one of the best superhero films I've seen in a while. It makes up, certainly, for The Green Hornet, and is a hell of a start for the superhero season. Captain America comes out soon, The Green Lantern after that, then the Spider-Man reboot... even if they wind up being terrible, at least we have Thor to fall back on. And who better to rely on than him?

Movies in Chianti - A Journey Into Pictures and Tastings
by
Stefano Becheroni
It is not a find that Chianti is considered one of the most fascinating places in the world. The profile of Chianti's hills, the warm colours of wheat fields and vineyard, the nice and genuine nature of its people are just some of the elements that brought together contribute to a multi-sensory experience that the attention of those, who more than any other have been always looking for a continuous emotion, did not miss: the artists.

The Problem Facing Captain America: The First Avenger
by
Simon Walters
It's a great year for comic book movies. We've just had Kenneth Branagh's fantastic superhero flick Thor, whilst the already brilliantly looking X-Men: First Class and Green Lantern are set to hit cinemas within the coming month. Coming last in July however, will not do Marvel Studio's Captain America: The First Avenger any favours.

Movie Review: Thor
by
Andy Gavin
Title: Thor Director/Stars: Chris Hemsworth (Actor), Natalie Portman (Actor), Kenneth Branagh (Director) Genre: Comic-book Action Read: May 9, 2011 Summary: Weird. Other than Marvel's apparent desire to pull a kind of cinematic equivalent of the 1980s "Secret Wars" there really aren't a lot of reasons why this movie needed making. It's actually kind of bizarre, and I can't really imagine that the Thor (as in comic) audience is immense.

Thor Storms Into Theaters This May
by
Rob Postuma
If you stuck around after the end of the credits for Iron Man 2, you were lucky enough to see what was essentially a sneak-peak at the upcoming THOR film coming out May 6, 2011. Agent Coulson, played by the incomparable Clark Gregg -- star of Old Christine and about 100 films, was called in to investigate the government's latest and top-secret finding.

Pirate Radio - Get Ready to Jam!
by
Dirk Bristol
Pirate Radio is a trip down memory lane. Great songs from the early days of rock 'n roll. The antics of a bunch of DJs stuck out in the North Sea will leave you laughing. What about the clothes? These festooned characters set the stage for a great adventure.
