Earthquakes in Wellington
by
John Paul Gillespie
Wellington, capital of New Zealand and home for almost all of my years, is famous for being one of the most windy cities in the world, and also one of the most earthquake prone, situated on the very juncture between the restless Pacific and Australian tectonic plates

What to Do If There Is an Earthquake in New Zealand?
by
Doris Chow
An earthquake of magnitude 7.4 hits Canterbury (west of Christchurch) on 4 September 2010 at 4.30am local time. Within 6 months on 22 February 2011 at 12.51pm, another earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 hit Christchurch and caused greater damages and casualties to the affected areas. Although earthquakes of such intensity are not very common, it is important to be prepared for minor quakes. The Earthquake Commission provides public education and information on earthquakes regularly.

Why You Should Visit New Zealand - A Forgotten Paradise
by
Stuart J MacKenzie
It is possible to sum up why you should visit New Zealand in one movie title - Lord of the Rings. The sweeping, rugged landscapes are not just a backdrop in the films; they play a vital role in telling a story and creating a feeling of otherworld-ness. And while this may entice travelers to our small, isolated country, that is certainly not all we have to offer.

Median House Prices in New Zealand's Main Centres
by
Bruce Spurdle
House prices in New Zealand are still showing some variability between regions, although there is a relative stability across the nation as a whole. Throughout 2010, house prices nationwide dropped gradually. However, the first few months of 2011 saw a slight recovery in some areas - particularly in the two main cities of Auckland and Wellington. The small rise in median house prices in these two cities was able to partly offset the continued decline in house prices throughout the rest of the country. However, median house prices in Auckland and Wellington are still lower than they were a year ago - with Auckland houses down 1 per cent and Wellington houses down 2.9 per cent.
