NFL Preview 2006

Is this the year of the Colts? That is what everyone is asking and it is clearly a wait and see situation. They still have Manning and Harrison but they have to find a strong replacement for Edgerrin James who opted to go to Arizona. Coach Dungy is clearly a leader in his field but every playoff the Colts find a way to choke-whether it be to the Patriots or the Steelers-makes no difference. In 2005 the Colts won 13 straight out of the gate-then lost to San Diego-then the terrible tragedy that happened in the Dungy family. We will never know if emotions of pain so deep cost the Colts the rest of the season but it is what it is and life goes on. As a parent of 6 children and 2 step-children I can not fathom losing a child and clearly my work would be affected for a very long time. The Colts have always been a favorite of mine and I would love to see them in the Super Bowl this year. Go Colts!

Minnesota Vikings 2006 Preview

The Minnesota Vikings have won 9 games per season for the past three years. It's been a while since they have broken that mark. Could this year be the one? In the weakened NFC, winning 9 games just might get you into the playoffs. The Vikings caused off-season waves by signing OG Steve Hutchinson. They also let QB Daunte Culpepper go.

Through my knowledge of the sport and teams, as well as careful analysis of recent off-season acquisitions and losses, I have come up with a forecast of how I expect each team to finish in its respective division.

Packers Not Packing It In ... Green Bay is 4-12 ATS in dome games under Mike Sherman but 13-5 ATS when priced between +3.5 and +9.5. This might serve them well in their upcoming game at Atlanta as 9-point underdogs. Cheese Heads are coming off a 20-10 home loss to Pittsburgh but actually outgained the Steelers on the day. Five of seven Packers losses have come by 7-points or less and the Falcons have not carried a number this large on their wings all season.

Arizona Cardinals at Detroit Lions Both squads try to stop a two week losing snide. The Lions' Jeff Garcia and Joey Harrington are banged up. Coach Mariucci isn't sure which QB will start on Sunday. The injuries are mounting for the Cardinals as well. Last year's sac leader, DE Betrand Berry, has a torn pectoral muscle and could be out for the season. Kurt Warner returned under center last week. He was intercepted 3 times and sacked four times.
