At the heart of the hype, in the midst of US Constitutional framework, above and beyond prevalent heartbreaking emotions associated to 9/11 victims and circumstances, one thing remains obvious, at least openly, officially, bluntly Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf and his group named that mosque Cordoba, declaring that "the period between roughly 800 and 1200 CE, when the Cordoba Caliphate ruled much of today's Spain, and its name reminds us that Muslims created what was, in its era, the most enlightened, pluralistic, and tolerant society on earth." In Islam too, symbolism carries a lot of its purported emotional, spiritual and moral density...a call to truth, reality and blessing... In other words, referring to the question above, "What is the exact meaning of "mosque?"...
