If you write songs, I'll bet that you have written one about the Moon. What causes the phases that we all know so well? Technically the Moon's phases are caused by the Moon revolving around our Earth, every 29.53 days or 12.36 times a year. That's why some years we have thirteen full moons. The Full Moon closest to the Autumnal Equinox is called the Harvest Moon.

Harvest Moon is one of the most popular video game series' ever, and has seen many incarnations, on many consoles, which is perhaps somewhat surprising, giving the nature of the game. The game usually revolves around the story of a young boy (or girl), who is asked to run a farm. The game runs in yearly cycles, where you must grow and prepare crops and livestock for sale at the end of the year.

Are Earthquakes More Prevalent During the Harvest Moon Cycles?

Historically, it appears that Earthquakes are more prevalent directly after the harvest moon cycles. This does not mean you necessarily have to worry if you live on top of an active Earthquake fault, but the odds are greater during this time period. Does this mean the big one will hit Southern California, the Oregon Coastline, Peru or Mexico City?

Yes, the theme of the harvest has been one that has permeated the pop culture and music scene for many decades and some of the more astute followers of pop hits will know more than a few of them.
