Atletico De Madrid - Always the Bridesmaid?
by
Steve Yates
The old saying about always being the bridesmaid and never being the bride isn't really appropriate. Atletico Madrid, after all, have won the Spanish league five times in the last 50 years; the Copa del Rey nine times; the old European Cup Winners Cup (they have been runner up twice as well) and even reached a European Cup final in 1974.

On the Third Day - Heroes Again
by
Gerry McDonnell
The wife is easily influenced by the mainstream media. Ever since the BBC first aired 'Heroes', she believes she has supernatural abilities. I've tried to explain that 'sensing' I'm not in a romantic mood does not equate to a 'power'; she's merely deduced that I haven't been drinking heavily.

Liverpool Or Manchester United?
by
Simon J Lewis
They are the two most successful teams in the history of English football. Their games are watched the world over and programmes from them are collectors items. But what do the statistics tell us about their respective merits - and what do you think? Football is after all the most subjective of topics.

Is Jose Mourinho the Greatest Manager in Football?
by
Rob Sheeps
Jose Mourinho, former translator to Bobby Robson at Barcelona in the early 90s has certainly come a long way in football in a relative short period of time. He shot to fame by taking Porto to the UEFA cup final and beating Celtic. He followed that up with a victory in the Champions League final against Monaco of France.

Manchester United Football Club
by
Adrian Bryan
There is no way of talking about English football without a mention of Manchester United. This is the most decorated and successful professional football club based in Greater Manchester to the North-West of England. The club was formed way back in 1878 under the name Newton Heath LYR Football Club and acquired its current name in 1902. Nicknamed the Red Devils, the club moved to their current Old Trafford home in 1910.

What Does Early Doors Mean for Home Improvements?
by
Leslie S Jones
Can a curious cliche be related to home owners and how they secure their properties? A political journalist from the national broadsheet The Independent has been making a case against civil leaders (and media centres) overusing cliches and empty phrases. He blames politicians, and perhaps their lazy speech writers, for a seeming lack of rigour in the way we express ourselves.
