Durban Olympics 2020 - The Other Cities That Are Bidding To Host The Olympic Games in 2020
by
Graeme Michael Watson
Durban Olympics 2020 - The other cities that are bidding to host the Summer Olympics 2020. Durban is now the only city in South Africa that will formally bid to host to the Summer Olympic Games in 2020 after Johannesburg, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth failed to submit their application to SASCOC. On September 7th 2010, SASCOC announced that it considered South Africa's 2020 Olympic bid finalised with Durban as the host city, and now it was up to the South African government to ensure that Durban's Olympic bid for the 2020 Olympic Games goes ahead.

Durban Olympics 2020 - Durban Looks Likely to Bid For the 2020 Summer Olympic Games
by
Graeme Michael Watson
Durban in South Africa has just shown the world that it is capable of hosting a major world sports event, by its exceptional hosting of the football World Cup. Fans were welcomed into this great city by the sea and basked in the fantastic winter sunshine and temperatures averaging 25 degrees Celsius, making sipping cocktails on the beach in bright sunshine in the middle of winter a reality!

Dubai Ready to Bid For Olympics 2020 and World's Exhibition
by
William King
Hosting an event like Olympics is not a small deal, running a promotional campaign alone may cost millions of dollars. But then again, what was the last time when you heard of anything small coming out of Dubai? It has been long since Dubai has stopped doing anything "small".

Why Losing the Olympic Bid is a Good Thing For Chicago
by
Josh Goodall
I am not surprised at all when Rio won the 2016 Olympic Games Bidding Right. Seriously, I am a little surprised why so many Americans are so optimistic about Chicago's bid. Did that simply because of the Obama Effect?

Durban Olympics 2020 - Durban Gets Support Right at the Top to Make Their Olympic Bid!
by
Graeme Michael Watson
There has been much excitement amongst the Durban locals this week after the Mayor of Durban, Obed Mlaba, formerly announced that Durban plans to bid for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games. The Olympic Games have never been on African soil, so Durban's win will be as historic as South Africa's win of World Cup 2010.

Forget Chicago Or Rio, Rural America For the Olympics in 2020
by
Mohamed A
It was only few weeks ago that Chicago lost the bid for the 2016 Olympics. Before another metropolitan in the US tries for the 2020 Olympics, we need to consider showing another face of America to the world.

Will Wrestling Be Cut From the Olympics?
by
Lance Winslow
The other day, I was quite alarmed to read that wrestling might be cut from the Olympics. The reason I think this is completely nuts is because it was one the first sports for the Olympic Games. Yes, I know that all good things come to an end, but this seems to be rather outrageous. Why is it being cut, apparently because its commercial viability has been less than stellar during recent past Olympic Games - fewer people buying tickets, less media interest, and thus, too costly for the size of the crowds and ROI. Well, let's talk about this for a minute.

Top Down Approach to Strategy Execution - Lessons From Chinese Beijing Olympics
by
Sarvajeet Chandra
Not every organization can follow the Chinese top-down approach to strategy execution as evidenced in Beijing Olympics. And yet there are many lessons that organizations can learn from what is arguably one of the best executed sporting event. Love them or hate them, you cannot come back from China without a few good lessons.

Fanning the Flame - A Brief History of the Olympic Torch
by
Eric R Hughes
It has clocked more miles than a career marathoner. It has seen more countries than Rick Steves. It has been held by everyone from Heads of State and heroes to awestruck children. It has inspired everyone from Usain Bolt to Joe Average. It is a symbol of courage, strength, and victory but it's not a trophy. It's not a medal, it's nobody's prize. And yet the very sight of it ignites a certain spark... a flame that roars brightly as the entire world stops to witness the oldest and largest organized tournament of sport on the planet. It's the Olympic torch.
