Vietnam Snow

Vietnam Snow
Sapa Vietnam Tour
by
Brad Ruoho
If you asked me to choose my favorite destination in Northern Vietnam, I would say Sapa without thinking twice. It is a small highland town in Lao Cai Province, Vietnam. I recently took a trip to Sapa this January, right after my Tet holiday (the Lunar New Year celebration); and it was my most memorable trip to date.

Bear Under the Snow
by
Dennis Siluk Dr.h.c.
The Vietnam War was a ten-year rainstorm, one I experienced for one tenth of it (and got a decoration for). It carried us, as if to the moon, as if the moon had dropped on us. It infected the community, everyday life; it also gave some of us, excitement (as it had for me), but many funerals, 56,000-American funerals, over 5,000 a month. It gave us new and daily sounds over the radio, and television, and the full actual sounds of war, I would get to hear, in 1971.

When to Visit Vietnam
by
Thinh N V
When to visit Vietnam is a very common question but not easy to answer if you do not live in Vietnam. Vietnam is divided into 3 main parts but it is known to many people that there are two main climate regions. The North covering a larger area from Ha Giang province to Hue city has harder climate conditions.

From Vietnam to Sydney (A Three Part Poem-1971)
by
Dennis Siluk Dr.h.c.
Drifts and slitters in the sky - a horizontal sun nearby, not much grass in this city of Sydney, wild cars (scrapes of steel). Aimlessly from a battered war I came, out of a swarm of yellow jacks - that circled me - and here, here now I am standing, downtown - by strange buildings, smells, brittle old buildings in sight, not far away, by the bay (to be torn town they say).

by
John F Black
The world has grown smaller. People today are traveling more and more, often eschewing the typical resort-type of vacation in favor of vacations of a more adventurous sort.

Trucking Job Brings Me Face to Face With Vietnam Vet
by
Aubrey Allen Smith
Suddenly, he placed his hand on the bag and started shaking it back and forth saying, "Get up! Get up!" I focused my attention back on him. Then, he began moving his head from side to side, his eyes darting here and there. I heard him mumble, "They're dead........they're all dead."

Cam Ranh Bay Vietnam - First Duty Station [1971]
by
Dennis Siluk Dr.h.c.
In a war zone, --a combat zone that is, or for that matter, in a support unit that is in a war zone, there are very few flags flopping out in the wind, or for that matter, finding soldiers standing erect with dressed greens, gloriously waiting for combat around the bend [like in the movies], sorry, just squads of the military marching, trampling through the rain and mud, dodging bullets, rockets. The soldiers in Vietnam, for the most part young men, were a little frazzled in the nerves trying to figure out where they fit ...

Memorial Day Brings Back Memories
by
Jo Condrill
A Vietnam Veteran remembers the tough times. Let's not forget our veterans of previous wars as we turn our attention to those now returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. God bless America.
