Top Places to Visit in Gettysburg
by
Joe T. White
Gettysburg Pennsylvania brings to mind the "Battle of Gettysburg," and the "Gettysburg Address." That is so true, but there is so much history in the small town that a humongous book could not include it all. Here are just some of the great things to do here.

Gettysburg in August 2009
by
Deone J Mears
Before visiting Gettysburg, I thought that I would be able to feel a sense of settlement in my soul about the grand rift in our history while standing on that hallowed site, but I came away with more questions than answers. Who were these men who waged such a gruesome war on their fellow countrymen?

Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
by
Owen Jones
If you are at all interested in either Pennsylvania or American history, you will certainly have heard of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and the historic activities that took place there during the American Civil War. The three day long battle that took place there in July 1863 was cruel and bloody, but was hailed as a victory for the Unionist North.

Lessons From A Speech Writer - When Less Is More
by
Christopher John Green
Watching Spielberg's film "Lincoln", I was reminded of the Gettysburg Address. Why is such a short speech remembered 150 years later? I believe it is a great example of less is more in speech writing.

Tearing Down The House - A Love Affair With 'Not The Nine O'Clock News'
by
Michelle Duffy
The art of the alternative comedy era was firstly, one of excitement and anti establishment. Hardly a ground breaking prospect when you think about it in today's terms, yet a show like 'Not The Nine o'clock News,' was floodlit in it's forward thinking, surrealism in the same light as Python in the Sixties and The Goons further back in the Fifties. Young comics were suddenly given the full park to charge around in. They could think, act and perform in every way or shape possible. Since making social comment a joke had been something only left to the domestic absurdities through situation comedy in 'Father, Dear Father,' or 'Bless This House,' now, all at once, the man in the street or the blind woman crossing the road was open to ventfuls of ridicule. Young talents could create comedy out of every day life, far from the comforting surroundings of behind the front door.

Movie Review - Johnny English Reborn (2011)
by
Chris Pandolfi
The title is Johnny English Reborn, but the film contains nothing even remotely resembling a rebirth. If anything, it remains in the stagnant quagmire that made the original Johnny English so unbearable. It's strained, predictable, and desperately unfunny - a film that doesn't showcase the comedic talents of star Rowan Atkinson so much as abuses them. He's essentially on par with a sideshow freak or a circus animal, his physicality and learned behaviors exploited by filmmakers looking to turn a profit.

21st Century High Architecture or Just Hundred Year Old Modernism
by Humane Architecture
The news that the new country house for Rowan Atkinson has been approved by the Oxfordshire Planning Committee despite being recommended for refusal by the Authority's Planning Officers is in danger of raising again the rather tired debate about Modernism versus Classicism in the British countryside. But this is entirely the wrong debate.
